Mitsubishi the first manufacturer to introduce "Preview Distance Control"?

I went to have a glance through old press release from Mitsubishi and got interested about the Diamante's 3.0L V6 GDI engine. The press release mentioned something about Preview Distance Control which means when cruise control is engaged, the system uses radar recognition to monitor the distance to the vehicle ahead and regulates engine power and the automatic transmission to keep at a safe distance. After almost 10 years, the 2007 Mercedes Benz S-Class featured the same gadget found on the 1997 Mitsubishi Diamante SE-R. Mitsubishi also packaged other electronic aids such as TCL*4 (Traction Control), ECS*5 (Electronically Controlled Suspension), EPS*6 (Electronically Controlled Steering). Moreover, the TCL or traction control system. This advance system incorporates Trace Control, which makes safer during cornering by optimally regulating engine power fractionally before the vehicle exceeds its cornering limit due to excess speed, and Slip Control, which helps the vehicle move off and accelerate more smoothly on slippery surfaces by regulating engine power to retain optimum tire grip.

I remembered Mr. Jeremy Clarkson reviewing the Diamante but I don't remember he mentioned something about the Preview Distance Control system. Oh well, I guess it's not offered in the European market.
